Stop The Insanity

That may sound crazy but if you have any access to tv or news you know that there is a snowstorm going on in the east. We don't get snow too often and usually it's a couple of inches here and there when it does but once every ten to twenty years we get walloped as the term being used by the Weather Channel. It started late yesterday afternoon and has not stopped. Last check earlier today it was at 19 inches. I walked around the house to get some pictures and realized when I was halfway around that I would not being doing that again. It is up to my knees and is physically hard to walk through it. Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy. I have decided that I will start playing the lottery so that maybe I can move to the tropics one day!

This is from last night, the steps had already been swept once but were soon covered again.

Earlier today, our poor dog didn't even want to be out there and he likes the snow but it was getting too high. It is a little harder for him too as he had an accident over a week ago and has staples on his other side. He has to be on a leash for the next week when he's out and a watchful eye must be kept on him as he's already pulled the staples out once and needed to be re-stapled.

These were kind of funny looking, a propane tank and patio table around the back of our house. The table had a kind of mushroom look to it.

Back door steps are somewhere under the pile and what our cars look like.

After I came back in I finished up my afternoon with making some Rum Balls and yes they are good.
BTW-- it is now a little more than 24 hours since it started snowing, it has slowed down but has not stopped.

Also a picture of some clay ornaments I just recently finished for a friend. I was asked to make something similar to the one in the middle and they came out pretty close but are a little larger.

An added bonus for today, we are getting our first snowfall. Luckily it is not sticking to the roads right now or accumulating although it's been coming down all day.

Let's Say Thanks

This website from Xerox gives you the opportunity to send a free printed postcard to U.S. military personnel stationed overseas. Please take a minute to show your support and appreciation for their service. The holiday season is upon us and we should not forget about the many men and women who will be away from home.

Needle Feltings

I just recently finished up a custom request order for a smaller version of the needle felted mushroom that I had made before. This one is almost 6 inches high with a red cap and white spots. The little gnome has blue colors and was also made smaller to fit inside her home. The skelly head ornie is a bonus I added in. All of the work was done by needle felting with wool. The mushroom came together from a pattern by The Silver Penny but I downsized it by half the original size. It includes some interfacing to hold up and form the walls and styrofoam to help form the cap.
